Interpret the brief
This assignment is called recreation . For this this assignment I Have to find a film that has been made in the last 25 years and recreate it by incorporating the skills I have learned on my level 2 media course such as colour theory , camera movements and angles and audience and genre . The requirements for this brief are to create a short film no less than 2 minutes and no longer than 3 minutes and your version of a film or scene from the last 25 years but the scene can not have NO SEX , NO DRUGS , NO ABUSE or VIOLENT LANGUAGE .
Who is the client and more context ?
The client is a local cinema looking for talented film makers . Parkway cinema was founded in 1983 by Gerald Parks and his wife Denise . The business has always been independent . seeking to show a wide range of films and events are a genuinely welcome environment . Gerald parks was proud to receive a MBE to UK Cinema Industry in 2013 however he sadly passed away afterwards but the businesses has gone from strength to strength thanks to wife Denise and help of sons as well as the great staff .
Parkway cinema are celebrating 25 years in the business and want to showcase local film interpretation of famous films / scenes from the last 25 years .
who is my audience ?
My audience is people between the ages 15 and the ages 45 . To help with my research I am going to search up some films that were made in last 25 years .

What is the purpose of your finished film ?
The purpose of the finished film is to keep the audience entertain and engage and want to keep watching more of the movie or scene .

Communication : For this assignment communication is key I will need to use this skill by considering what the audience
and the client need and want and also to ensure the meaning ,message and impact is clear . To make sure I get top marks for showing my communication skills I need to make sure I start making ideas on what I want to do for my assignment such as make a storyboard , script and make sure planning is perfect . Before I actually film my real video for my assignment my teacher James said that we had to do a test shot so I have to be prepare for that . For this project I am working with other people in my group so I need to communicate well with them and let all ideas be heard .
Practical skills : For this assignment My use of practical skills is key because you have to try different techniques and using skills you have learned in lessons such as camera movements , colour theory , audience and genre and transitions and adding them to your film .
Development : For this assignment Development is a key skill that is needed because you need to show your progress and ideas all the way through the project such as planning , before recording the film making a test film and asking peers for feedback and teacher to see what you can improve on for real thing and interrupting the brief finding out what the client and who the audience is . To record your development for this assignment you can use a blog , sketchbook ,or digital portfolio .
Approach: For this assignment the skill Approach is key because for my pass projects my time management and organisation has not been that great so I am going to try and improve it which is what this assignment is all about . Working separately and in a team is important for this assignment too .
Investigation : This is an important part of the assignment because for this skill you have do some research about films from the last 25 years to get some ideas and inspiration on your assignment and also to start interpreting the brief and find out more .

Primary research : I did some of my own research to help with my recreation assignment and made a Microsoft form and sent it to 18students in my class as well as my teacher and asked them questions on this form about films from 25 years , their favourite genre of films , their favourite directors ,and what streaming services do they watch films on ? Here were the results :
For one of the questions on my form I asked what streaming platform do you watch films on ? BBC I player , Amazon Prime , ItvX and Netflix .
According to my form BBC I player had 1 vote 6%
Amazon Prime had 2 votes 11%
ITVX had 0%
Netflix had the most votes at 15 people and 83% of people would choose to watch films on Netflix .
Netflix : It was founded on the 29th of august 1997 is a american subscription video on demand over the top streaming service . The service provides and distributes original and acquired films and television with different themes and genres to choose from you can choose which language you want .
What to watch on Netflix :
ITVX : Itv has been available since 1955 ITVX is a new streaming platform where you can watch films Tv series and even ITV news !
What to watch on ITVX :
Amazon prime : Amazon prime is a paid subscription service of amazon which is available is various countries and gives users access to services that only amazon customers would get . Amazon prime also has range of films and Tv series on this streaming platform .
BBC Player : BBC Iplayer is a video on demand service from the BBC this service is available on various devices such as tablets , mobiles phones , computers and Televisions and has a lots of different shows and some films to enjoy .

Sky store and google play has got least voted at 6%
Back when it was called ITV player now called ITVX was in the top five where people wanted to watch and dowlond their films from at the total of 29 %
Youtube 43% of people wanted to watch films on this streaming site
Prime video was in top 3 with a total of 44%
BBC I Player has a total of 61% of people wanting to watch films and tv series on this platform . BBc I player had a lot more people using this platform as there was more iconic shows on a Saturday night such as eastenders and strictly come dancing were put on there yes they are still on there but its not everybody's first choose anymore and the more people dont use it which makes the numbers go down but on this chart you can see its very popular .
Netflix has a total of 70% of people wanting to watch films and tv shows because it is a very easy and acessable platform to use and has a lot of films to choose from .
On my Microsoft form I asked 18 students and my media teacher who was their favourite director ? The most common answer I got from research was Tim Burton
Tim Burton : Born on 25th august 1958 and he is a American animator , film prouductor , artist , writer and illustrator . He is best Known for pioneering goth culture in American film industry . He has made and directed such as Charlie and the chocolate factory , Beetlejuice The Nightmare Before Christmas , corpse bride and many more movies .

4 . Wayne's World : Bohemian Rhapsody This was another scene I thought about recreating first I had a lot good ideas about how I was going to recreate it and even decided on the costumes for the characters however after asking my media teacher if i could recreate this iconic scene I couldn't recreate it as it was not released in the last 25 years .
3. 10 Things I hate about you 1999: poem scene - This was one of the first scenes I thought of doing for my recreation assignment however I feel like I feel like this scene doesn't have many camera movements and I wouldn't be able to think of any to in corporate or recreate into this scene even if it is one of my favourite films

2. Freaky Friday 2003 Body Swap : This is in my top 2 choices Its between this and The Grinch . I think Freaky Friday would be a good film to recreate as it has some good camera moments in it and it would good to incorporate this into my project .

I used premier pro to edit my recreation project all together . here are some screenshots I took off premier pro I changed the saturation to add colour theory to my project and to make it look more like the film and I also added audio to my film .
Evaluation Recreation
In this recent assignment which was called recreation where we had to recreate a scene from a movie from the last 25 years I choose the How The Grinch Stole Christmas which was made in 2000 and choose one of the most iconic scenes in the film The What will I wear scene.
From doing this assignment I have learned how to use the cameras a bit better and what camera movements to incorporate into my scene . I have done a lot on research on recreation for my assignment such as filling in a Microsoft t surveys as well as making a Microsoft form and all students in my Level 2 media class had to complete . The questions on the forms included what is everybody’s favourite film made in the last 25 years? and what is your favourite director? And where do people watch films or Tv shows? By doing a Microsoft form helped me with research for my recreation but I feel like it help me improve my developing skills .
How have you shown evidence of investigation skills?
I did a lot of secondary and primary research for my assignment and found out what was the most high ranking films from the last 25 years and researched films from the last 25 years such as 10 things I hate about you , Easy A , Notting Hill , The Matrix and How the Grinch Stole Christmas stole Christmas to try and get an idea about what scene I wanted to recreate .
I also made a Microsoft form for the class to complete and asked questions related to the 25 years of film. One of the questions I asked on my form was who is your favourite director? the common answer was Tim Burton I think he was chosen because he has made some iconic films such as the nightmare before Christmas and Beetlejuice and Charlie and the chocolate factory and uses special effects , different costumes and talented actors and actresses to make his movies to come to life .
On the Microsoft forms another question I asked was what was everybody favourite streaming service . The most popular choice by everyone was Netflix !5 people choose this. Netflix is a popular streaming service and has a variety of films and tv shows which can be enjoyed be all .
How have you shown that you can solve problems?
I didn’t have a lot of problems in my project this time but however some problems were that I did get some of Emily’s footage on my computer which I was worried about and I thought I lost all of my footage but l found it with the help of my media teacher James .
What practical skills have you displayed during this project?
I think I have displayed communication in this project to express my ideas and help other people with their work as well as communicating my own ideas in my own work .
As well displaying communication I also showed teamwork by working with other people and been an extra in other people’s assignments.
How have you incorporated professional practice?
I incorporated professional practise into my assignment by using a grinch costume from the costume department to make my film look more realistic as well as using a light-bar and changing it to mainly green but sometimes blue to incorporate colour theory into my film .
I also used premier pro to edit all my clips together and added some Christmas music a and some clapping where the major of Whoville come onto the scene like in the movie .
How have you shown communication skills?
I think my communication skills were good in this assignment as I work with a few different people in their assignments as extras when other people couldn’t or didn’t want to I stepped in and volunteered to help I showed my communication skills by giving ideas to help people with their recreation assignments .
I also showed communication to James when I presented my presentation which was all about my project and why I had chosen it .
Are there any skills you need to develop further in future projects?
The skills I need to improve for future projects is to incorporate mis en scene in my project and make sure things are in the right place as you can see the tripod in one of shoots next time . next time I will move it out the shot.
What would you change about your finished project?
For my next project I would make sure my camera shoot is bit smoother when I edit next time. I made the saturation a bit darker like film towards the end and I wished I made it a little bit more lighter so you could see the Grinch (Rhys ).
